I would call it a growth if there is not much of class discrepancy. If dirty work is not done by humans  but by the machines. People learn to respect every other individual. People learn to interact rationally. As there is fight for limited resources social problems have increased. rationality is rare occurence.

 

Was there ever any growth? I don't know how experts calculate it. But I have not seen any proseprity happening to people around me except for those who cater to out of India world, in last so many years.Water levels went down. Wells and riverbeds dry out quickly by february end every year. Uncompleteted Irrigation projects like Ujani arwe stark examples. I watched  Rural population migrating to cities and living in smaller and smaller dwellings with poor hygienic conditions. Only thing which looked revolutionary was the entry and spread of Mobile and cable TV . But does that need High growth rate as claimed earlier? It is a technology advantage which happened all over the world. People no more wear old turban , they may wear Gandhi topi or No cap. They have stopped wearing white dresses, though the climate is getting hotter and hotter. Yes...The shops are selling more countrymade liquor as well other wineshops are increasing.

The money which has come through software engineers and BPO is poured into unrealistically raised real estate prices and stock market. Which just increases the profit for builder. I see more crowded buses more crowded Local trains. .....this is what has happened when we were growing fast. I wonder what will happen when our growth will slow down. Elighten me
